LAUNCH DATES! 2026-2027 Season

We have the BLM permit for the land that is approximately 20 minutes west of Cedar City (SUREsite2).

The FAA waiver for class 2 high-power rockets has been denied. That means this site is for class 1 rockets only. Since we have the BLM permit, we hold launches for class 1 rockets.

Any rocket that weighs less than 1500g and has less than 125g of propellant is allowed. Many of the Aerotech H motors have less than 125g of propellant, so we can still have some fun!

Launches on Saturdays are normally from 10am-2pm, Sundays 12pm-4pm, but we'll fly until everyone is done for the day. These are 1-day events. Joe Hill will let everyone know if the launch is a go/no-go as soon as he can. If fire restrictions are not in place, Jeremy or Joe Hill will choose the day that yields the best weather for flying rockets.

All dates are pending fire restrictions(especially in September and October).

The BLM permit is for SUROC-held launches, so you can't just go there yourself on these dates and fly.

From I-15, take UT-56 West out of Cedar City for 5.2 miles.
Turn right onto 4800 N/Iron Springs Rd. 8.6 miles.
Turn left onto Burn Rd. 0.2 miles.

There are a few important points regarding the SUREsite2 launch.

1). We will be collecting $10.00 cash per flyer for the BLM fee. Spectators are free.

2). If you plan to launch class 1 "H" motors you must bring your TRA or NAR ID card so we can verify you are launching within your certification level.

3). NO SPARKY MOTORS of any size!!!

4). We will provide a few pads for 1/8" and 1/4" rods and one 6-foot 1010 rail. People can bring their own if they want to.

5). Follow the signs for parking, and pick up any trash you leave behind(SUROC provides a trash can, and there is a dumpster on the way in/out). Driving is only permitted on designated roads.
